My process for making artwork
Step 1: I often come up with an idea for a painting around 2am. I'll plan it out and try to go back to sleep, then jot down my ideas in the morning to revisit later.
Step 2: When I'm ready to move forward, I roughly sketch the idea to see how it fits on the paper or canvas. I'll then draw it out to scale with more detail, even though drawing isn’t my favorite part.
Step 3: My FAVORITE part—choosing the colors!
Step 4: My second favorite part—applying those beautiful colors to paper or canvas and watching them blend!
Step 5: This is where I start scrutinizing and overthinking every detail.
Step 6: Take a break.
Step 7: With fresh eyes, I continue painting.
Step 8: More scrutinizing...
Step 9: I try to let go of some control and keep painting until I consider the piece “finished.” For me, a painting is never truly complete; it’s about deciding when it looks acceptable in my opinion.
Step 10: Admire the piece, appreciate the colors and their blending, scrutinize a little more, and then admire it again.
